Factory would be first SYMG factory in North America
Chicago, September 8, 2014: At a Press Conference at the International Manufacturing Technology Show
(IMTS) at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL, SMTCL Chief Operating Officer Jerry McCarty announced today
SMTCL is looking at the possibility of manufacturing machine tools in the United States.
A manufacturing factory in North America will complement SYMG’s current manufacturing facilities in
Europe (Germany) and Asia (China). “We are looking at the United States because that is where our
customers are and we know that we can find workers and vendors that have the dedication to quality that
we need”, said McCarty. “We are in the evaluation stage, but we are hoping to employ Americans and
have this facility managed by Americans. I can also tell you that although we will continue to use the
World’s best components in our machines, we hope to use a number of local U.S. vendors to provide
contract machining, fabricating, and electronics.”
McCarty said, “ SMTCL-Americas will be looking at what products to manufacture and will look to have the
facility in a state that has a good manufacturing base with employees and vendors that can build quality
machines and components. “We will need manufacturing engineers, machine assembly technicians, and
service technicians, as well as purchasing, accounting, and general management professionals,” said
“Our plan is that if we build machines in the United States, we can ship them to our Customers throughout
the U.S. and to our Customers in Canada, and Mexico. In the meantime, we look forward to helping all of
our Customers compete in the World Economy with Quality Products and Support.
